A singer/songwriter, IRMA Award Nominee and one of Irelands top vocalists, Fiona found nationwide success in the 80’s by winning Ireland’s first ever televised X-Factor Show called “Screen Test”. For some years following on from this, Fiona became a highly recognised artist on Irish television, performing regularly on TV and Radio shows including “The Late Late Show”and having her own one hour TV Special, ‘The Fiona Kennedy Show’.
Throughout the 2020 lockdown, Fiona did a weekly livestream show , as part of The Quarantine Sessions Cork, and raised over 4000 Euro for Penny Dinners along with the other musicians involved. She also played for the De Barras Clonakilty and Irish Music Magazine Livestream Shows. The Covid lockdown also saw Fiona concentrate more on her songwriting and she released a succession of singles, the latest, ‘The Place of my Resurrection’, going straight to number one in the ITunes Chart.
In 2017 Kennedy ran a very successful crowd-funding campaign to record her next full album, ‘The Beach’. (See links below) This was recorded in Dublin with producer & guitarist Bill Shanley (Ray Davies/Gilbert O’Sullivan). In 2018 and 2021 she was honoured to be the winner of the Network Cork Business Woman of the Year Awards in the Arts category. Judges announced that Fionas’ resilience and passion for her music had seen her continue as a full time independent musician through 2 recessions in a notoriously difficult industry.
With a new album currently being recorded and her songwriting taking centre stage, Fiona Kennedy is ready and waiting for the live music sector to fully open up again!
